Belger Crane Yard Studios

This will be a demo/hands-on hybrid workshop, where the first day Sunshine will be demonstrating how she makes her awesome pots. The following day will have lots of hands-on time, one-on-one with Sunshine as well as some advanced demos.

Sunshine's demonstration will motivate you to experiment with new and old forms and methods of construction. Her workshop is geared toward creative expansion and encourages students who attempt to use these new and old handbuilding techniques to embrace a process-over-product mentality. She will focus on ways this approach resonates with beginning students just discovering the boundaries of ceramics as well as advanced professionals who have worked within the boundaries for years. Not all the boundaries are bad, but knowing how to open them illuminates endless possibilities.

Her demonstrations will include coil and pinch methods with hard and soft slab construction to generate the various components she uses to construct her pots. She will speak to building surface through the making process and discuss the glaze and surface treatment of her work.
